History
Scales Contracting LLC was founded in 1975 and has been owned and operated by David Scales for 42 years. In 2016, his son Jonathan joined the family business. Today, David and Jon along with an exceptional team of subcontractors serve Berkeley Heights, New Providence, Summit, Chatham, Basking Ridge and the surrounding areas with high quality home renovation services.
About David
David grew up in Watchung, NJ and went to Susquehanna University where he was a stand out cross country runner. Early in his career, he apprenticed as a carpenter then began running work as a foreman for several local builders. Seeing great potential, his peers encouraged him to go out on his own and in 1975 he founded Scales Contracting. David has been self-employed for over 40 years not only because he is a talented carpenter, but because of his eye for design and his reputation for running a job well.
David and his wife Carol have lived in Berkeley Heights since 1991 and have been married for over 30 years.
About Jon
Jon grew up in Berkeley Heights, NJ and went to The University of Hartford where he graduated in 2010 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. During summers between school, he worked with his Dad as well as a local builder framing houses and additions. After college, Jon worked for a large commercial mechanical contractor where he did estimating and Building Information Modeling with AutoCAD. Wanting to be more hands on and independent, Jon partnered with his Dad in 2016.
Jon and his wife Abbie both went to Governor Livingston High School and live in Summit.
